Two Willard Officials Designated as Certified Municipal Officials by the Municipal Governance Institute
WILLARD, MO – Wesley Young, City Administrator, and Mike Ruesch, Planning Director, have each earned the prestigious designation of Certified Municipal Official from the Missouri Municipal League’s Municipal Governance Institute (MGI). These certifications underscore their commitment to professional development and excellence in municipal government.
The Municipal Governance Institute, created under the Missouri Municipal League’s board of directors, provides a training program for municipal officials and staff. To achieve the Certified Municipal Official designation, participants complete 16 credit hours of specialized training endorsed by MGI, covering critical topics for effective governance.
Through participation in MGI-sanctioned training activities, Wesley Young and Mike Ruesch have received training on subjects including council meeting procedures, parliamentary procedures, Missouri Open Meetings and Records Law, conflicts of interest, the State Ethics Law, the duties of mayor and council, tort liability, purchasing and bidding requirements, municipal revenue sources, personnel law, emergency management, and budgeting.
Wesley Young’s dedication to ongoing education continues, as he is now working toward an advanced MGI certification in the coming months, furthering his expertise and commitment to the Willard community. Mike Ruesch plans to apply to the Certified Public Manager program later next year.
