Willard Parks and Recreation celebrated a significant milestone today as Abilities First presented a $100,000 check to for the construction of the Better Together Playground. The donation, made on behalf of Abilities First, was a substantial step toward building an inclusive, accessible space where children of all abilities can play side-by-side. “This playground is so much more than just a play area; it is a symbol of our community’s compassion, inclusivity, and shared commitment to making sure every child can join in the fun,” Jason Knight, Willard Parks Director shared. “We are extremely fortunate to have this amazing park and incredibly grateful to Abilities First for their generosity.”

Located at 218 West Jackson St., the Better Together Playground offers specially designed structures and play areas to ensure children of all abilities can play safely, learn together, and foster friendships. With the support of dedicated groups and individuals who envisioned and committed themselves to this project, the park is a beacon of community spirit.

Willard Parks would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the members of the Better Together Playground Group. Their vision and unwavering dedication to bringing this park to life have been essential to its success. Today’s event celebrated not only the gift from Abilities First but also the collective hard work and shared values that are bringing the Better Together Playground to our community.

With more support like this, Willard Parks is pleased to see the dreams of the Better Together Playground come true. This playground, and all the friendships and joy it will bring, are truly something to look forward to.
