‘Tis the Season to Drive Sober: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

Willard, MO – The Willard Police Department is joining the 2024 Holiday DWI Enforcement Campaign, a collaborative effort led by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and local law enforcement agencies. This high-visibility campaign, running from November 27, 2024, to January 1, 2025, aims to deter impaired driving and ensure everyone gets home safely during the holiday season.

Drunk driving remains a significant threat on our roads, especially during the holiday season. During the December months from 2018 to 2022, 4,759 lives were tragically lost in alcohol-impaired driving incidents, with 1,062 of those deaths occurring in December 2022 alone.

“Our priority is the safety of our community, and that means keeping impaired drivers off the road,” said Willard Police Department. “Enjoy the holidays responsibly by choosing a sober ride if you plan to drink. There’s no excuse for putting lives at risk.”

Drivers are urged to plan ahead if they intend to drink. Options such as designated drivers, taxis, and rideshare services can help ensure everyone gets home safely. If you spot a drunk driver on the road, please contact local law enforcement.
